Here is the Trick of how to create an emergency boot up Rescue Disk

Windows Xp doesn’t have no boot rescue disk as we know, but it has automated recovery disk

start->program->Accessories->System Tools->Backup

you will get the Backup or Restore wizard Click Next.

Click Restore Files and Settings, and then click Next.

In the What to Restore dialog box, select the media that contains the ASR backup. Ensure that the media is inserted.

Expand the Automated System Recovery Backup Set that corresponds to the ASR floppy disk that you want to create.

Expand the second instance of the drive letter that contains the system files. Expand the <var>Windows_folder</var>/Repair folder.

Click the following files from this repair folder: Asr.sif and Asrpnp.sif, and then click Next.(These two files are used during the ASR Restore Operation)

Click on ‘Advanced Mode’. This will show you Backup Utility Window.

Click ‘Automated System Recovery wizard’ button, you need to specify a destination where a backup of the system files can be made, once that is made, you will be prompted to insert a floppy disk. The boot files will be transferred on to floppy (before that Format the Floppy). In case of a system failure, the backup and the boot floppy will help in starting the OS using recovery process .

Note: While doing rescue disks, remember that if your system crashes, you will also need to have the Windows installation CD for complete recovery of your OS.

Many Problem’s in the system may occur due to missing of some system files in the hard disk, plenty of people reinstall the system to resolve the problem, this is time consuming.

If the problem is caused by some missing or damaged file n hard disk you can retrieve those files from the OS CD. In windows 98 you could take it from the DOS menu or from some software's from other manufacturer’s But windows XP provides you many files from the setup files.

People who are using Command Prompt for some particular task have to browse to that particular folder if they have to execute the file in that folder in the command prompt window, by default your command prompt will show you your user name Root Directory like this “c:\Document and Settings\user>”. So you have to travel a huge path to reach your destination folder, which is a hectic work. Just think of how if we can go to that particular destination root directory of the folder when we open command prompt(“D:\mywork\destinatin>”)!!! Cool isn’t it?? Lets learn it from here.

Lets learn it from here.

This option enables you to right-click on a folder within Windows Explorer and choose the Command Prompt, which opens a Command Prompt window with that folder as your active directory.

do the following:

Step:1

Navigate in your Registry to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/ Classes/Folder/Shell

and create a key called “Command Prompt” without the quotes.

Step 2:

Set the default string to whatever text you want to appear in the right-click menu.

Step 3:

Create a new key within your newly created command prompt named “Command” and set the default string to Cmd.exe /k pushd %L

Step 4:

You may need to add %SystemRoot%/ before the Cmd.exe if the executable can’t be found. The changes take place immediately. Right click on a folder and your new menu item will appear.

It really helps to have the programs in windows all neatly arranged. It’s a different case if the programs installed in the windows shortcut location in the ‘All programs’ are not arranged properly. Users may find difficulties in searching and running their desired programs. Due to that, you will definitely not like the idea if your friends freely install programs into your PC – programs whose functions are uses you are not sure of.

One of the simplest way of installing windows programs is through the control panel. Users can easily install just by clicking ‘Add/Remove Programs’ in the control panel. If you want to prevent others from using that function, the best thing to do is to deactivate it from the control panel.

To do this, you need to modify the existing windows registry arrangement

Goto start –> Run –> regedit

When the registry editor window opens, navigate to ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Unistall’.

Create a new entry in the right window pane by right-clicking and selecting

New\Dword Value’; name it ‘NoAddFromCDorFloppy’.

Double-click and enter 1 to the ‘value Data’.

Next, you have to navigate to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies|Uninstall’,

As with the previous steps, create a new entry in the right window pane and name it ‘NoAddFromCDorFloppy’.

Double-click and enter 1 to the ‘Value Data’ section

Restart the computer once u have closed all the windows.

When you are back in the system, try opening ‘Control Panel \ Add/Remove Programs’, u will no longer see the ‘CD or Floppy’ option under ‘Add New Programs’, which is usually used to install programs.

Every engine is associated with a single alphabet, thus Google gets a ‘g’, Download.com gets a ‘w’, etc. Press [Alt] + [P] and go to the Search option for the list of engines supported and the associative alphabet. Here, you can also change the number of results displayed per page.

To use the Address Bar for a Google search, press [F8] and precede a query with a g, eg: g X-Men movie Web site [Enter], will search for the ‘X-Men…’ string in Google.
